About Louisa Fitzgerald
Let me introduce myself….
My name is Louisa Fitzgerald. I am a mum of 3. I was born into a family of teachers and theatre lovers in Northampton, lived in London and then moved to Patcham, Brighton, 14 years ago. I wanted to bring up my children in a family area surrounded by the fresh sea air. We love it here and being in colourful and energetic Brighton instantly re-kindled my passion for all things creative.
I do what I love and I love what I do. I have worked as a qualified teacher and professional actress/dancer since I left university, specialising in Drama, Art and Dance. I have extensive experience of the Primary and Junior ages from a wide range of both state and private schools. Over the years I have been a Primary class teacher, a supply teacher across inner city London, a ‘subject specialist’, a school productions director and choreographer, a LAMDA tutor, a GCSE and ‘A’ Level English and Theatre Studies teacher, a SEN support teacher and a volunteer teacher at The Street Academy School in Ghana.
Get Creative in Brighton was inspired by my children. I wanted so much for my own children to get as much joy from the creative arts as I do. Drama, Dance and Art are wonderful tools for the building of confidence, self esteem, team work, communication and the development of motor skills. They give children an opportunity to explore and question the World around us, whilst having great fun and giggles along the way!
One of the most wonderful things about children is their differing personalities. Each child is unique and my sessions are designed with that in mind. My ‘3 monkeys’, all very different, enthusiastically help me brainstorm ideas for my sessions. After all, children know best what appeals to children.
I hope this has given you an outline of who I am and what I believe in and I hope to meet you soon at one of my sessions – do come along and GET CREATIVE!
